potty training

Potty training has not been as hard as I 0nce thought. Cayden went through a phase when he would scream on the potty. I have already purchased two potty chairs and I am getting ready to buy another one. Finding the right chair is very important.

The fist one is a fisher price learning potty. It is really cute it has a flusher and toilet paper roll and it sings and talks. It is just a great toy. My mom bought a summer time potty that goes on toilet as well as freestanding. Cayden is just too big for it. I am constantly saying make sure your tutu is in the potty and he crams it in there. So we tried it on the toilet, it doesn't fit. Hugh....seriously it shouldn't be this hard. This potty is the one we are using until I get something else.

One day Cayden at 2 1/2 came up to me and said, "Mommy I need to change my diaper" , then he proceeded to tell me not to get pooh pooh on his bed (our bed actually). It was then I realized he has played the I'm scared to pee on the floor bit long enough. So two weeks ago I made him sit on the potty first thing in the morning and I told him that he could get up when he used the potty. I put the potty chair next to me and turned on cartoons. I fixed a small breakfast with his morning coffee (don't worry it's just warm milk and a little sugar) and we sat there and sat there. Almost 2 hours later he went pee pee. I played this one up!!! We jumped and shouted and put his first sticker on the elmo potty chart! Wow, this was a breakthrough for us. I knew that we had to move forward, so I did not put a pull up on him. After his nap we did the same thing. This time he sat for 1 1/2 hours before he would pee. I realize that this was probably mean, but he was afraid of going pee pee on the floor. I made the mistake at my first attempt to potty train of acting a little upset when he went pee pee on the floor. I should have reassured him that it was okay, forgetting that not having a diaper on was kinda scary.

On the second day, Cayden only sat for about 1 hour in the morning and I decided that we were just going to be naked. He was playing at his desk when all of the sudden he takes off and runs to his potty! He went pooh pooh!!!!! Wow! Then he got really excited stood up and said, "mommy, I did it" then i hear an, "oh no". Cayden wasn't finished and went pee pee on the floor. This time I did it right! I immediately began praising him for going to the potty.

That entire week he used the potty, my boy is potty trained! I don't push it when we are out, I'm okay with him using the pull up when we are out. I am so proud of my baby!
