Since we have moved in our house....brand new house.....our dryer really hasn't been working very well. Brand new dryer might I add. I thought that it was a cheap dryer and that was the problem. After living here about 6 months I woke up to a small leak in my ceiling. It was a clogged vent. We had to cut a whole in the ceiling and unclog the vent....no problem. Dryer worked fine for a about a year (again might I add still doesn't dry like I would like it to.) This summer I kept seeing a little bird fly really fast in the top of our house....hmmm. So my Will put a screen in the vent to prevent the bird from going in the dryer vent.
All was well until the dryer started taking a long time to dry. Tuesday afternoon I noticed 3 wet spots on my ceiling.....here we go again. So we unhooked the dryer, took a leaf blower into vent.......................nothing. Well then Will put the leaf blower on the outside of the house and blew lint into the house. That's fine at least it is out of our vent. So then Will climbs up the ladder and feels around in the vent.......he starts pulling out eggs and some of the nest. He couldn't reach all of it so we started coming out with all kinds of homemade tools to get out this stinking birds nest. Although we have a portion of it already....it can still cause a huge fire. Well, Will fell off the ladder on his back....ouchee. I was supposed to be holding the ladder when he started coming down, so I moved and boom. My bad. All of these events lead up to a big....it's still clogged. Actually it seems kinda worse. So we will be cutting very soon. Sorry ceiling. Lesson learned: Never buy a house with a 90 degree turn in a dryer vent and make sure the vent is covered during construction!!!!!
